Antonio Todaro, born 1929, was an outstanding Tango dancer and Teacher in Buenos Aires. He had significant influence on the young, professional dancers during the 80th and 90th. From 1987 to 1993 he travelled every year to Europe to share his knowledge and art. His unique style is characterized by refined and complex combinations and distinguished dynamics. Michael often took classes with Antonio in Berlin and Buenos Aires and wishes to introduce the participants to his style and show some of his fantastic creations. | |||
14. LECTURE – RARE MUSICAL PEARLS OF THE GOLDEN AGE – examples from shellac, vinyl, books and videos | 19 – 20:30 HS | MICHAEL RÜHL | 25€ |
In this lecture Michael takes us on a time travel to some of the rare pearls of the Tango music of the Golden Era. „Between 1936 and 1955 there was a big number of very good dancing music orquestas in Buenos Aires and Montevideo, besides the ones better known. In this lecture I’d like to introduce the lesser known „orquesta tipica“, that made significant recordings. We will hear some of them on shellack or vinyl. Additionally we will see videos and pictures from old newspapers and books. Texts from these originals tell stories, which introduce these lesser known but not less fantastic Tango musicians.“ |
